We have mentioned it several times: cycle tourism represents enormous potential for local areas, as evidenced by the data from Banca Ifis reports presented at the Cycle Tourism Forum last April. The Milan Monza Brianza and Lodi Chamber of Commerce not only understands this but has gone a step further, realizing that this potential cannot be fully realized without a coordinated effort that has a widespread impact on the territory.
This is why the Milan Monza Brianza and Lodi Chamber of Commerce is active with a project that takes a systemic approach to the growth of the sector, supporting businesses that wish to enter it. Launched in 2023, the project has grown with an interesting series of initiatives.
Among these are training courses, support for businesses in starting up and internationalizing, promotional actions, and the “Tourism by Bike” grant, which provides financial support for businesses that want to become bike-friendly and equip themselves to welcome cycle tourists.
Funding requests can be submitted until October 2025 and cover up to 70% of expenses for investments aimed at enhancing services and skills focused on the cycling world. Eligible expenses include those for the purchase of bike repair stations.
From our experience in the sector, we know that the greatest development and best results are achieved where a synergy is created between private actors and institutions, and where it is not just a single business that transforms, but an entire territorial and entrepreneurial context.
For this reason, we are pleased to see actions of this scale being implemented, which not only provide concrete support now but also contribute to spreading a good practice that we hope to see replicated in other areas of Italy.
