The Ministry of Sports and Youth has launched a call for proposals open to all Italian municipalities to fund projects related to cycling.
With the support of the Department of Sports, Sport e Salute S.p.A., and A.N.C.I., *Bici in Comune* targets municipalities of any size and aims to promote cycling mobility and bike tourism as tools for a healthy and active lifestyle.
To implement their projects, municipalities can apply individually or partner with Third Sector Entities, Institutions (e.g., other municipalities), or Sports Associations (ASD and SSD). Municipalities of any size are eligible to participate. The maximum funding available depends on the size of the municipality (e.g., municipalities with up to 5,000 residents can receive contributions of up to €50,000).
The projects may encompass various initiatives (divided by category), ranging from mapping and promoting cycling routes and trails to upgrading, securing, and adapting bike paths to improve accessibility for vulnerable groups. They may also include installing digital and analog tools to enhance the use of cycling spaces, such as apps, signage, bike racks, or maintenance and charging stations.
The total budget for the call is €12.6 million, and the deadline for submitting applications is January 13.
Applications can only be submitted via the dedicated portal. For more information, click HERE.
